Former Drag Week Winner Joe Barry Will Host Summit Racing Equipment Sick Ward Presented by PEAK Performance

Although Sick Week wasn’t the first to offer an upgraded spectator experience to a drag-and-drive event, the Sick Ward has raised by the bar for those that want to enjoy the drag-and-drive, but without racing their vehicle.

For the inaugural Sick Summer Presented by TBM Brakes, we are honored to announce that Joe Barry, former Hot Rod Drag Week Champion, will be the host of the Summit Racing Equipment Sick Ward Presented by PEAK Performance.

The Summit Racing Equipment Sick Ward Presented by PEAK Performance offers street machiners and hot rodders the opportunity to cruise alongside the racers, while getting VIP treatment. Spots are still available if you’d like to come and join in the fun.

From their own area in the pits to catered lunches and free refreshments, the Sick Ward participants will have just about the most fun of anyone at Sick Summer.

Joe Barry has done several drag-and-drive events, and wanted to help Tom Bailey out with Sick Summer.

β€œTom asked me if I wanted to drive the hot dog - ice cream truck,” said Joe. But then the focus shifted to Joe leading the charge with Sick Ward, and Joe happily accepted the role.

This is not the first time Joe has jumped in to help fellow drag-and-drive enthusiasts.

β€œWhen I’ve done drag-and-drive events in the past, and you’re thrashing to get cars ready for the track or the road, most people could always use a break and a bottle of water,” Joe said.

β€œThere were times we would ride around the pits and offer water and food to people, because you could tell they were ready to pass out. I’ve been on the racer side, where you feel pressured and can’t stop for food and drink.

β€œSick Ward is a great way to get involved with a drag-and-drive in a more relaxed approach. When Tom asked me if I could help, it wasn’t as stressful a decision as if I would be making plans to bring my ’56 Chevrolet to compete.”

What has Joe just as excited about Sick Ward and Sick Summer, is the tracks and cruise routes.

β€œIt will be fun to do the cruise and hang with the Sick Ward participants. The tracks that Tom picked for Sick Summer, these are some of my favorite tracks. It should make for a great week!”

Sick Summer Presented by TBM Brakes will be dragging and driving through Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin from June 5th through the 9th. Find out more about Sick Summer - Sick Ward.
