This week’s submission comes from Scott Barmby:

My name's Scott Barmby and live in the North East of England (UK). I have a 1979 Camaro Z28 called The Nightmaro. I have had it five years this year, and have completely restored it doing 90% of the work myself! It used to be silver when it first came over from the USA.

I stripped it right down to bare metal, as it had been painted outside and the paint was like 20 grit sandpaper. I blew the car apart, took care of rust with new metal, body work and paint.

The paint is a custom color, a black base with handfuls of red cherry metal flake from DNA, and lots of clear coats. It really pops in the sun.

I also rebuilt the engine, added lots of performance goodies over the last few years such as multiple carb, intake and cam combos, full true dual exhaust with headers, aluminum heads and hardware such as Comp Cams roller rockers, an MSD ignition system, bigger sump, it's had full rear end service with locker, double adjustable coil-over suspension provided by Aldan American (who I am lucky to be partnered with), Cal Trac bars, plus lots and lots of other stuff.

The interior has been gone through also with new carpet, new headlining, dash, rear seats and front seats out of an Audit TT. I also have a Pioneer sound system with head unit, 6-inch x 9-inch speakers, and multiple gauges in the car such as AEM air-fuel ratio, monster tachometer and others.

I love the car; it really stands out over here as you can imagine. I take it to car meets, I drag race it, and even competed in Street Weekend 2023 last year, in which I was lucky enough to get my picture in Sick the Magazine.

I also run a car club over here called North East Hot Rods UK, in which there are over 750 members, who all have cool American cars, trucks, bikes, etc. I host monthly meets through the summer, and even drag racing events at our local no-prep track, Melbourne Raceway in York.

The car gets its name "The Nightmaro" from its attitude: black, loud (electronic cutouts which are constantly open), and its Christine-like ability to play games with me! It constantly kicks my ass, and is a nightmare.

The car is part of me, and I absolutely love it! I have just done a magazine shoot for a car magazine over here called Practical Classics, which will be out in the summer.
