First Look at the Epic 1300mi Route For Edelbrock Sick 66

Excitement for the one-time-only Edelbrock Sick 66 drag-and-drive event is ramping up, with the reveal of the full route for the first time.

Featuring six race tracks and 33 checkpoints, the 1313 mile route (yes, we’re looking for an extra seven miles somewhere to make it 1320) takes in long stretches of Route 66, with racers being directed onto the Mother Road for as much time as possible.

Beginning just outside Springfield, MO at Ozark Raceway Park, racers will roll on to compete at Mo-Kan Dragway, Tulsa Raceway Park, Amarillo Dragway and Albuquerque Dragway, with the final stop taking place at Alien City Dragway in Roswell, NM. Check out the full schedule.

Behind the scenes, Sick The Magazine has been hard at work currently locking in checkpoints and checking different stages of the route. Sick’s publisher Tom Bailey and editor Luke Nieuwhof drove much of the route in the 1962 Chevy II Gasser currently being given away. The entire route will be put into RideWithGPS so entrants can have turn by turn directions.

The checkpoints are going to range from incredible museums to places like this tunnel where the original Route 66 cuts under the interstate.

Certain sections may change and some may become optional. For example, the climb out of Los Alamos around the Valles Caldera will likely be a choice for the bravest Sick 66ers, with a less hardcore route offered back on the I-25.

One thing is for certain — the checkpoints will be incredible! You’ll meet some of the characters of Route 66 and the places they call home and see history being built, or crumbling, before your eyes. No other road reveals as much about the diversity of lands and people of this nation we call home. Edelbrock Sick 66 is a once-in-a-lifetime drag racing event not to be missed!

Places are still available in the Summit Racing Equipment Sick Ward Presented By PEAK Performance and you can also join the racer waitlist.

Don’t forget we have Edelbrock Sick 66 merchandise available for purchase right now at sickmachining.com. All merch purchases get you one entry per dollar spent into our 1962 Chevy II Gasser Giveaway.
