Edelbrock Gets Its Kicks With Sick 66

Edelbrock is excited to announce its official sponsorship of the greatest racing road trip of all time — Edelbrock Sick 66 — a one-time-only, drag-and-drive competition spanning four states and six drag strips from October 10-18, 2024. Edelbrock will be the title sponsor for this ultimate road trip on the “Mother Road” hosted by Sick the Magazine.

Drag-and-drive events see racers set an average time at each drag strip throughout the week, and they must drive their cars between checkpoints on a pre-determined route to the next track. This one-way event starts at Ozark Raceway Park in Missouri on October 10 before heading west to Mo-Kan Dragway, Tulsa Raceway Park, Amarillo Dragway, Alien City Dragway, and ending at Albuquerque Dragway in New Mexico on October 18. There will be 50 checkpoints to traverse along iconic Route 66, with everything from abandoned gas stations to legendary tourist sights as the backdrop.

“Edelbrock is one of the most iconic performance companies in America, and Route 66 is the most iconic highway, so it’s only fitting that we are the title sponsor for Edelbrock Sick 66,” Edelbrock Group Vice President Mark Campbell said. “As a drag-and-drive participant myself, I feel like some people have forgotten that Edelbrock is a racing-based organization. We’re here to change that, and our commitment to Sick events helps remind racers that we support them on their journey.”

Edelbrock is a proud supporter of Sick the Magazine events — the most recent being the highly successful Sick Week 2024. Tom Bailey, Sick the Magazine publisher and driver of the world’s quickest street car (Sick Seconds 2.0), said it was a privilege to have a company with the reputaon and history of Edelbrock as the title sponsor of Edelbrock Sick 66.

“Route 66 became a part of American culture as people searched for a beter life. It’s highly likely that Vic Edelbrock Sr. traveled Route 66 when he moved west during the Great Depression,” Bailey said. “Edelbrock Sick 66 will pay tribute to the road and the people who made this country strong, along with having one heck of a drag racing adventure along the way.

“Almost anyone, young or old, has thought about taking Route 66 across the country, and Sick the Magazine is turning that dream into reality for a few hundred lucky cars. We will be covering over 1,000 miles of this historic road and providing people with memories that will be the stuff of folklore years from now.”

If racers would like the opportunity to participate in Edelbrock Sick 66, they should immediately fill out the expression of interest form at www.sickthemagazine.com to be notified of registraon details.”
