Drag-and-Drive Community Makes a Solid Presence at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show in Indy

The end of the year is marked with crowning of racing series champions, the off-season rumor mill, and who is working on what for the upcoming season.

The Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show in Indianapolis, Indiana is a source for all three subjects, but this year’s show featured a strong showing for the drag-and-drive segment as well!

Gear Vendors Overdrive has been synonymous with drag-and-drive, and Rick had a pair of rides in his booth that encouraged lots of photos and discussions throughout all three days.

Tom Bailey’s recent Hot Rod Drag Week winning Sick Seconds 1.0 1969 Chevrolet Camaro sat on one side, joined by a brand-new car, the debut of the Schroeder Ens team’s ‘new’ C7 Corvette, on the opposite side. We covered this new ride as a news article on Sick The Mag – READ ALL ABOUT IT HERE!

Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels celebrated their 60th anniversary with a huge display of rides in multiple locations, including a couple drag-and-drive rides in the hall.

Alan Whitaker (who we feature in the current issue of Sick the Magazine) parked his 1972 Monte Carlo, with travel trailer, in the hall as part of the Mickey Thompson display.

Joining Alan on the Mickey Thompson display was Tom Bailey’s 2021 Dodge Durango Hellcat, fresh from its ‘break-in’ drag-and-drive at Death Week.

Cody Medeisis staged his recently revamped turbocharged S-10 pick-up in the Redhorse Performance booth, and it was breaking necks all three days with its cool blue paint job and ultra-sano black/gray engine bay.

It was not a surprise to see Brett LaSala’s 2012 Mustang at PRI after an impressive 2023. After starting his season winning class at Sick Week, Brett added World Cup Finals and ModNationals victories to his trophy room, as well as claiming the Coyote record at 4.09 in the eighth-mile recently.

The ‘Snot Rocket’ sat in the ProTorque booth, front clip removed for all to see the twin-turbocharged Coyote powerplant.

Tony Wisman’s supercharged ’69 Dart debuted on Sick Summer Presented by TBM Brakes this year, and the classic Dodge that could easily snag a car show award as easily as a 9-second time slip sat in HotRods By Havliks booth.

Multi-time drag-and-drive winner Tina Pierce had her twin-turbo Chevy II Nova in the Crower booth.

Mike Finnegan’s ‘Blasphemi’ ’55 Chevrolet might not have made a drag-and-drive in 2023, but he’s making strides with recent engine and transmission fixes, and the well-known ’55 was on display in the trailer section of PRI at ATC Trailers.
