Chuck Stefanski Gearing Up for Sick At The Rock, with His Sights on Being The Quickest Supercharged Ride in the new Sick Street Car Challenge Class
After competing in his wife’s Trans Am at Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive in both 2022 and 2023, Chuck Stefanski decided to up the ante and re-vamp his 1981 Pontiac Lemans station wagon for a full season in 2024.
Chuck Stefanski achieved some solid results, completing two drag and drive events, and scoring wins at two events. Now he’s got new goals for 2025, and Chuck plans to continue his mission in the new Sick Street Car Challenge class at the Sick At The Rock event next month.

“We built our cars as fast street cars,” said Chuck, one-third of Big 3 Racing out of Ohio. “The other local guys kept saying they were not street cars. How better to prove that they are than a drag and drive?” Chuck took that to the next level with a station wagon that could just challenge for one of the quickest supercharged ones in drag and drive.
“I owned it back in 2007 for a couple years and sold it,” Chuck said. “I bought it back in late 2019 to make it into a no prep car after I decided to move on from my 4th gen trans am radial car.” Then the transformation to bring it to the prepped side of things, as well as all the street functions, got the attention for the wagon Chuck calls Plan B.
The wagon was caged out to SFI 25.3 specs to be able to legally clock as quick as 6.50 elapsed times at 3600 pounds, and Chuck nearly clocked a 6-second time in 2024. “It's been a best of 7.002 at 186 mph, breaking a shaft rocker at the eighth-mile mark,” said Chuck.
After getting the wagon ready for last year’s Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive, where Chuck finished the week with a 7.72 average alongside teammates and business partners Rick Trunkett and Bob Hess Jr.
But Chuck wanted more, so the Pontiac long roof was stripped apart, weight was removed, a switch to methanol for fuel was done, they swapped the steel front doors for fiberglass versions, and a complete re-wire was done. “All in the quest for 6-second passes,” Chuck admitted.
He nearly got there last year, and continues to lower his drag and drive performances in 2025. Chuck clocked a pair of 7.21 passes with the ProCharger F3-fed big block during Sick Week this year, resulting in a 7.28 average for the week.
Although Chuck has Sick Summer Presented by Motion Raceworks and Sick Smokies in his sights for 2025 as well, he’s excited about the new Sick Street Car Challenge class debuting next month at Sick At The Rock.
“I think this is an awesome way to showcase drag and drive, and giving the competitors several chances to win some real cash,” said Chuck. “This structure allows the spectators to stay at one track and see every pass. This event is going to set the pace for the future of drag and drive, and I am along for the ride!”
So, what category will Chuck take aim on? “I am hoping to achieve ‘Quickest Supercharger’ at the event,” he said.
