Battlefield Dragstrip in Mississippi to Re-Open December 21st, 2024 After Being Closed for More Than a Year
Just over two months after ending their 2023 season, Battlefield Dragstrip changed that status to permanent closure for the 2024 season. Despite thirty years of operation in Stonewall, Mississippi and recent upgrades, the track’s future looked bleak.
But recently, news broke that Battlefield Dragstrip will get its latest operator this month, as the track is scheduled to see action for the first time in nearly fifteen months on December 21st, 2024.

Originally created and opened in 1994 by Lonnie McClain, the eighth-mile track got its first upgrades just a year after opening, becoming wider and increasing in length in 1995. Most recently, the track got new concrete in both lanes in November 2020. But after operating the track for eight years, Michael Street made the decision to close it earlier this year.
In a Facebook post dated January 5th of 2024, Scott thanked those that supported and worked at the track:
In a December 3rd Facebook post, Rodrick Bennoman announced that Battlefield Dragstrip would re-open on December 21st, 2024. “For all you haters that said we couldn't do it, well here it is.”
