Bryant Goldstone has been a player in the drag-and-drive game for over a decade. 2024 was playing out like a dream for Goldstone leading up to Hot Rod Drag Week, with a trio of major event victories.

Could he keep the 6-second 200+ mph laps coming at Drag Week and earn another title, or would a nightmare Did Not Finish await him at the twentieth running of Hot Rod Drag Week?

With the midpoint of the event in the rear view mirror, Redwood Rally continued north in a combination of coastal miles, as well as making tracks east within the state of Oregon.

Day four would bring the competitors a total of 211 miles to its northernmost point of the week, Woodburn Dragstrip, to see what classes would have leader shake-ups, and which would solidify their class title chances.

Spanning two states, four tracks and just over 1100 miles on the road, the fifth edition of Rocky Mountain Race Week 2.0 (Raceweek) came to a close back where it started, Pine Valley Raceway in Lufkin, Texas.

The event brings some unique twists for the final day of competition, as well as four classes of heads-up and bracket racing action, and that awaited the souls that made it back to the start of their week-long journey.

After getting its start in Medford, Oregon, the second annual Redwood Rally made its way west to the coast of California and Samoa Dragstrip for day two of the event.

For day three, competitors would hit the road north, and follow the Pacific coastline 215 miles back into Oregon and Coos Bay Speedway.

Who could hang on to class leads?

After three race track dates, the competitors at Rocky Mountain Race Week 2.0 stayed in Louisiana for a second day of racing action.

After making the trek from State Capitol Raceway in Port Allen to Monroe and Twin City Motorsports Park, participants would get their final chance to stake their claim for a class title. Then, it was merely surviving the trip back to Texas, to check the final box to determine class champions.

After a pair of track dates in Texas to start Rocky Mountain Race Week 2.0 (Race Week), competitors got a full day of driving action to roll into Louisiana for racing at State Capitol Raceway in Port Allen on Wednesday morning / afternoon.

The majority of the incoming class leaders held their top spots, but a few notable names are out of competition, or lost their class leads.

Hot Rod Drag Week’s third day proved one of drama as attrition took hold across many classes and the overall lead changed hands.

Covering hundreds of miles of Pacific Northwest area, Redwood Rally will start and end their 2024 campaign at Medford Dragstrip in Medford, Oregon.

Day two would move the tour to Samoa Dragstrip in Samoa, California, then day three goes back to Oregon and Coos Bay Speedway in Coos Bay.

Day four will keep the competitors in Oregon to visit a new track to the event, Woodburn Dragway in Woodburn, Oregon, then the tour returns back to Medford Dragstrip for day five action, followed by additional racing action on September 22nd, including a small tire shootout.

Ned Dunphy’s Dodge Viper remains in the lead of Hot Rod Drag Week following a consistent 6.203/246mph blast at Indianapolis Raceway Park.

The fifth anniversary of Rocky Mountain Race Week 2.0 (Race Week) got underway Pine Valley Raceway in Lufkin, Texas for day one with 231 participants. Stop two would be the all-concrete Texas Motorplex.

The opening day of Hot Rod Drag Week 2024 at National Trails Raceway in Ohio saw six-second runs aplenty on a day that saw plenty of delays but ultimately delivered impressive numbers.

With ten years of solid history of Rocky Mountain Race Week (RMRW) in the books, the second helping, Race Week or RMRW 2.0, recently got underway for its fifth year in Texas.

During this year’s Sick Summer Presented by Motion Raceworks, Frank Webb shot onto our radars on day two with a massive triple-wheelie from his 1978 Ford Fairmont.

It got Webb and the Ford a lot of attention, but it also resulted in a trip to the tower looking for a replacement Aeromotive mechanical fuel pump, when the wheelie claimed his pump. Would it be the second-straight DNF for the 7-second Ford?

With a solid resume in bracket racing in multiple cars, Lane Cavar had become a common name in the winners’ circle on the west coast. But he still felt like something was missing, especially with his high school car, a 1979 Chevrolet Malibu.

“I have always attempted to keep my car as multipurpose as possible, but was getting to the point of being a sole race car,” said Lane. “Being this is the car I drove to high school, I wanted to revert the car back to street car form.”

As we roll into the last part of summer, and the last third of the drag-and-drive season, we’re also seeing several competitors seeing success at standalone events.
